Before we head off on our summer holidays we’re pleased to share some news about our latest grants. We have awarded funding to seven organisations working on really exciting projects, including Reducing fuel poverty as the UK moves towards net zero by E3G and Improving the tenancy deposit protection system by Generation Rent. Wealth check
In the world of wealth and assets, there are three key problems facing the incoming government: too many families with low precautionary savings, too many workers with insufficient pension savings, and wealth taxes not pulling their weight.
It may be an understatement to say the new government faces a number of economic challenges. A new report from the Resolution Foundation considers wealth in the UK and how the government might tackle wealth inequality and boost saving amongst those on the lowest incomes.

Council funerals
A postcode lottery for council funeral provision: New research finds glaring inconsistencies among local authorities. The patchwork of provision is letting bereaved people down.
Quaker Social Action has been investigating the provision of council funerals across the UK. They found huge differences in how easy it is for people to access council funerals, read more about their research and recommendations.

The future of inheritance taxation
Demos considers options to repair inheritance taxation in Britain, looking at what lessons Britain could learn from overseas. From South Korea to Norway, the report considers different models of taxing inheritance, and how they could be applied here.
